- Eric Stead MG spoke to their first MG Cyberster customer this month for an update on her experience.
- Susan Mather told the team her favourite car features and how her driving experience has been since purchasing the vehicle.
After the successful launch of the MG Cyberster in their showroom in September of last year, the team at Eric Stead MG recently got the chance to speak with their first customer to drive away with the Cyberster for an update on her experience with Eric Stead MG and the new all-electric roadster. Generously agreeing to discuss her new Cyberster with the team, Susan Mather gave us all the details of her experience with the car as a first-time electric vehicle, and MG vehicle owner.
“It’s like something out of James Bond!” said Susan Mather, proud MG Cyberster owner, ‘it’s an absolutely beautiful car’.
What attracted you to the MG Cyberster?
Speaking to Susan about what initially attracted her to the Cyberster, Susan expressed how she always had a strong interest in MG’s earlier sports cars, stating that although she had never owned an MG, her mother-in-law’s experience with MG cars had always been positive, inspiring Susan to try one for herself.
Although Susan already had a keen interest in MG’s sports cars, she was disappointed to learn that production was suspended in 2005. However, the announcement of the new Cyberster in 2024 instantly captured her attention, “I’ve always wanted an MG sports car – when MG got rid of the sports car it was quite disappointing. So, when the Cyberster came up as the new MG sports car, I really thought I’d quite like one”.
What are your favourite aspects of the car?
When asked about her favourite aspects of her new Cyberster, Susan emphasised two key aspects of the vehicle that she and her husband particularly enjoyed.
Choosing a striking combination of a dynamic red exterior and contrasting grey seats for her Cyberster, Susan expressed her love for the car’s unique style and aesthetic appeal, “It’s an absolutely beautiful car; we’ve got the perfect colour combination— it looks superb,” she said. Turning heads when driving the car around their local area, Susan stated how beautiful the car was, making it as wonderful to look at, as it is to drive.
When asked about her favourite performance feature of the car, Susan highlighted the Cybertser’s surprising acceleration, “It really is like a supercar! It goes like a bolt,” she remarked. Explaining how quickly and quietly the car accelerates, Susan pointed out that without the standard feature of acceleration noise, you wouldn’t realize how quickly the vehicle is picking up speed, adding that any other potential Cyberster buyers should be careful when putting their foot down.
Do you get many comments on the car?
Sharing the car with her husband, Susan told us about how the car was a head-turner, “When you’re out and about in it, you do get comments on what a pretty car it is” she said, mentioning that onlookers from the local supermarket car park like to catch a glimpse of the scissor-style doors and often come over for a closer look.
Where have you travelled with your Cyberster so far?
Although she had only owned the roadster for a few months, Susan told us how she’d already taken the car on a journey to Scotland to visit her mother-in-law and then down to Surrey, expressing how enjoyable the car is to drive “It’s a car meant for fun”, she said, adding how she and her husband can’t wait for the chance to take the top down again during the summer.
What was your experience like purchasing the Cyberster from Eric Stead MG?
Receiving the MG Cyberster in their showroom back in September of 2024, the Eric Stead team were excited to show off the never-before-seen roadster, kitting out their showroom to house the new sports car. When asked about her experience purchasing from Eric Stead MG, Susan said she had not used the team before but praised them for their excellent communication saying it was, “really straightforward and easy – they were really nice people to deal with”.
The Eric Stead team is thrilled that Susan loves her Cyberster and looks forward to giving more people the same exceptional experience of owning such a unique electric vehicle.
